Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken shared his thought process about leaving Team Liquid for FaZe. He mentioned that right before he left the situation in Liquid became quite tense due to players being too stubborn and not wanting to change. He then gave the club an ultimatum, bit it was not fulfilled, which led to his transfer to FaZe. The interview was conducted by Dexerto.
There was a lot of weird situations. It's nothing personal, it's just like team stuff and maybe the others have a different opinion, my ex teammates. But towards the end of the year, we bootcamp, or I have a contract meeting in Octorber, and I'm kinda just like, okay, I'll extend my contract if the bottcamp goes well. It there's progress. If suddenly things start clicking again.

There was one particular player Twistzz was not happy with. Back then the roster had Jacky "Stewie2k" Yip, Keith "NAF" Markovic, Jonathan "ELiGE" Jablonowski and Michael "GRIM" Wince.
So end of 2020 we're coming on our last bootcamp that ends up being my last bootcamp with the team. And it was exactly the situation that I said would happen. Like this is a miserable environment for everyone. No one feels good about this. It's also weird because people know things are happening with the roster, no one's talking, everyone's silent. It's a very awkward environment. I talked with Jason [moses] and Steve at the same time and I gave them two situations where I stay on the team. I say we relocate in Europe, 'cause this is where the game is gonna be all the time, and we play at the highest level we can and I think it gives our team a better chance. And the other situation was making a roster change, with a person on the team I wasn't particularly happy with. That was the talk and they said neither of these things are possible. I was like, okay, I'm out.

Apparently, Twistzz could've ended up on Mousesports, if only Finn "Karrigan" Andersen did not leave the team.
I was looking at Mousesports and then I found out Karrigan was leaving, so I was like, okay, I'm not going to Mousesports with no Karrigan. I remember I also approached Complexity, 'cause I liked the organisation and Jason Lake really cares about CS and at the time their roster looked pretty good to me. I was like maybe I can be a good piece for this team. And then I was trying to find out where Karrigan was going, so I got into talks with FaZe and then I found out Karrigan was going there. So I was like okay, yeah, this is where I want to be.

Twistzz was also quite harsh on NA players level, straight up saying that they're not on the same level with him.
I'd say like the personal situation was okay but it's tough when, before in 2020, it's tough when your every day job is bad. It's bad for your health and environment and you feel bad. I was struggling in only North America, and looking back now I'm like, these players aren't on my level. In no way. So right now when I look back I'm like yeah, I'm where I'm supposed to be. This is for me.

Twistzz left for FaZe Clan in January 2021. With him on the team, this club struggled in 2021 and finished the only Major of the season on the 9th spot. This led to a reshuffle, as FaZe brought Robin "ropz" Kool instead of Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer.
