Until Dawn returns with a new story
Until Dawn 2 is being developed by Firesprite, with support from AdHoc Studio, the team behind Dispatch. The sequel keeps the original game’s choice-led horror format, where player decisions can alter relationships, character behavior, and ultimately who survives. However, it will not simply continue the first game’s cast or plot. The follow-up is set to tell a largely standalone story while including references for returning fans.
A staged haunting becomes real
The new game centers on a group of ghost hunters who manufacture paranormal incidents for content. Their plan changes when the crew heads to a tropical island and encounters genuine supernatural forces. That setup gives Until Dawn 2 a different framework from the original while retaining the series’ playable-horror-movie identity. It is also the first direct sequel in the franchise, despite the arrival of several similar choice-driven horror games and a remake of the original.

Until Dawn 2 is the next title described as a pure PS5 exclusive, but it is not the closest console-focused release. Phantom Blade Zero launches on October 29 as a PS5 console exclusive, while also coming to PC. Further ahead, God of War Laufey is scheduled for February 16, followed by Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet in Sony’s known pipeline. Sony is also remaking the original God of War trilogy, though no launch window has been confirmed.
