After G2 Esports finished their group stage matches in IEM Katowice 2022, Nikola "NiKo" Kovac sat down with HLTV for a discussion regarding teammates, G2's new coach and opponents.
First, NiKo praised Remy "XTQZZZ" Quinoam's approach to the guidance of the roster, saying that he knows how to encourage the players after failures and how to make corrections in the right way.ย
"I went confident going into Dust2 and our coach, he's really good at bringing us back," the Bosnian star said. "He really has a good mentality and good approach when we're down. He knows what to say and how to bring us back, and he's the big reason why we came back in such a fashion," NiKo explained.
Next, it was the time to speak about the young prodigy โ Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, who made some perfect plays on LAN stage despite being only 16 years old.
He's so fast and if he catches the fire, I think he will just keep going. I don't want to say it's all about the start, but as soon as he gets a highlight or some good kills, I think he'll feel confident because then the crowd will hype him up.
And truly, m0NESY is not losing his confidence on moments of pressure. If his super-quick reactions are assisted with cold-blooded executions, then he will always be in the top list of AWPers.
Finally, NiKo spoke about the upcoming match with the rivals Virtus.pro in quarterfinals of IEM Katowice 2022, who are now "a bit overhyped" in his words.
I think they got a bit overhyped, they got into playoffs by just beating NIP and Copenhagen Flames. I think we have a chance winning versus them.
