After G2 Esports lost to FaZe Clan in the Grand finals of IEM 2022, many casters, players, coaches, including Janko "YNk" Paunovic spoke about how unlucky G2 Esports’ Nikola "NiKo" Kovač run was at major tournaments.

In fact, NiKo has lost several tournaments with no maps won, despite how well his team played on the road to these games.

Maybe history likes to repeat itself. Those who remember Kovac’s deagle misses on Nuke against NAVI in PGL Major Stockholm 2021 will also be linking the same performance with his sniper misses against FaZe on Mirage.

Another CSGO analyst, Duncan “Thorin” Shields made a tweet about G2, presenting poor statistics of the team on LAN finals:

Now what does it take for the top-3 team in the world to eventually succeed on big stages? At this point, this is not even about the experience of players. It is true, maybe Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov Is the youngest in the roster and has no experience playing on stage, but his impact has been monstrous at IEM 2022. Maybe it is lack of coach Remy "XTQZZZ" Quinoam that shattered the team's hopes for the trophy. Whatever the excuses be, the community can’t agree more that FaZe were just not giving up even at the worst circumstances.
