Apex Legends Season 30 Launches With Bloodhound Rework and Major Loot Changes

Live-service shooters increasingly compete through seasonal systems rather than isolated content drops, and Apex Legends Season 30 makes a particularly broad adjustment to its battle royale formula. The update is now available across all platforms, combining a rebuilt World’s Edge, a new direction for loot progression, major weapon-system changes, and the most significant Bloodhound update in recent seasons.

World’s Edge Takes the Spotlight

Respawn has placed World’s Edge at the center of the launch period, temporarily increasing its presence in Ranked and public matches so players can learn the revised layout. The map now includes additional cover and easier traversal around East Village, while Tree Settlement replaces The Tree and War Camp replaces Survey Camp. Sorting Factory returns with new tunnels, platforms, train cars, and zipline routes designed to improve rotations. The Fragment area regains its stacks and construction building, and Big Maude has been folded into Landslide to make that location a more viable landing option. Other adjustments improve loot in Countdown’s underground vault, refine Stacks and Lava City, and remove several collision, navigation, and unintended rat-spot problems.

A More Deliberate Loot Chase

Season 30 reduces the spawn rate of purple attachments while keeping the overall number of attachments unchanged. The intention is to make high-tier upgrades feel more meaningful instead of allowing squads to reach peak equipment too quickly. Arsenals are now inactive at the start of a match and activate alongside Evo Harvesters, with fewer appearing in each point of interest. Their upgrade panels now cap at purple quality and can provide an optic when a weapon lacks one. Gold attachments, gold backpacks, gold bins, mythic bins, and the Hot Zone have been removed, while several wildlife and special loot sources now provide less equipment. MRVNs are also less common and can only be used once.

Bloodhound’s New Cloaking Ultimate Changes Team Fights

Bloodhound receives the update’s headline Legend redesign. Their tracking tools now offer clearer trails and more focused clue information, while the Tactical provides a three-second full-body scan followed by four snapshot scans. White ravens can travel farther and be activated remotely. The new Allfather’s Cloak creates an area that conceals nearby players, grants increased movement speed and threat vision, and keeps the cloak active for a limited time after leaving the zone. Damage, weapon fire, and most abilities break the effect, although Bloodhound’s own abilities can be used without ending it. Upgrade changes add stealth-focused options and allow shooting to temporarily interrupt, rather than fully cancel, the cloak.

Weapons, Energy Ammo, and Competitive Implications

Energy ammo has been removed as a lootable resource. Energy weapons now carry a regenerating stockpile measured in magazines, with regeneration pausing during firing and reloading. This should make energy weapons more convenient during short engagements while limiting their reliability in prolonged fights. Season 30 also introduces Corrupted Attachments, high-tier upgrades that combine a powerful benefit with a drawback. Examples include larger magazines with slower reloads, stronger headshots with weaker hipfire, and faster movement at the cost of magazine capacity. Only one can be equipped per weapon. The G7 Scout returns to floor loot with reduced damage, rate of fire, and magazine capacity, while the 30-30 Repeater moves into the Care Package with increased damage and a new Shattercaps effect. Several close-range weapons, including the Alternator, RE-45, and R-99, also receive damage or magazine reductions.

Key points

  • Season 30 is live across all platforms with World’s Edge as its launch focus.
  • Bloodhound gains the cloaking ultimate Allfather’s Cloak and revised tracking tools.
  • High-tier loot is less common, while Arsenals activate later and gold loot is reduced or removed.
  • Energy weapons use regenerating ammunition, and Corrupted Attachments add risk-reward loadout choices.

Expert View

Season 30 signals a deliberate attempt to slow Apex Legends’ power curve while giving skilled players more meaningful choices. The loot reductions should make rotations and early fights less predictable, while regenerating energy ammunition removes inventory pressure without making those weapons universally dependable. Bloodhound’s cloak could have the largest competitive impact: it creates new ambush and escape patterns, but its clear counterplay rules should keep the ability from becoming an automatic fight winner. The first weeks will reveal whether the rework broadens Bloodhound’s role or simply creates a temporary surge in pick rate.
