Borderlands 4 players have a limited-time reward to claim as Gearbox continues supporting the looter shooter with new content. A Shift Code shared by Gearbox president Randy Pitchford grants three Golden Keys, and it remains active until October 6, 2026. Players can redeem it through the game or the official Shift website, making it worth claiming before deciding whether to return for the latest content.
Redeem the Borderlands 4 code before October 6
The current code is 39FJ3-CTJTK-CXTBC-JTJ3T-W95RK. It awards three Golden Keys and can be entered through Borderlands 4’s Shift menu or Gearbox’s Shift website. The expiration date is October 6, so players who want the reward should complete the redemption process before then.
Golden Keys are used to open Borderlands 4’s Golden Chest. Opening the chest provides randomized gear tied to the player’s current progression, giving returning players another way to refresh their equipment while working through newer activities.
Use the keys while exploring Story Pack 2
The timing of the code lines up with Borderlands 4’s latest major content release. Story Pack 2 launched Loveless on September 10, adding a new playable Vault Hunter built around cybernetics and a digital virus that can take physical Wyrm form.
The expansion also introduces Providence, a tropical location with story missions, side missions, activities, collectibles, and Tediore enemies. That gives players more than a new character to test: there is a wider set of objectives and loot-focused progression to pursue. Golden Chest rewards can therefore help players who are returning to build up gear for this content.
Why returning players may want to check in
Borderlands 4 saw renewed activity around the release of Story Pack 2. The game surpassed 20,000 concurrent players on Steam around September 10, its highest peak on the platform since November 2025. However, the increase also coincided with a free weekend and a 50% discount, so the source does not attribute the entire rise to Loveless alone.
Even so, the new Vault Hunter and Providence give returning players a substantial reason to revisit the game. The Shift Code adds a low-effort bonus to that return, particularly for players who are still deciding whether to explore the latest story content.

This is a useful but time-sensitive bonus rather than a reason by itself to return to Borderlands 4. Players already interested in Loveless or Providence should claim the keys, while those waiting on broader reasons to play can treat the code as a free supplementary reward.
