IEM Cologne 2022 steps into the playoffs stage, with some of the top teams eliminated from it. G2 were humbled by NIP on July 9th. The results do not look impressive not for fans nor for club's CEO Carlos "Ocelote" Rodrigues. Heading to Twitter, he had a few words to spare, just to let the fans know, that changes might be coming to the main roster, that fails to prove its worth so far.

And indeed: G2 signed NiKo from FaZe in 2020, then they swapped nexa for Aleksib, and later, obtained the young NAVI prodigy m0NESY. Having a talented lineup did not help winning trophies. Instead, G2 now can focus on building their roster with other options in the market, such as Virtus.pro’s Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis, Team Spirit’s Abdulkhalik “degster” Gasanov, or possibly OG’s Valdemar “valde” Vangså.
