Team Vitality become your IEM Winter 2021 champions after beating Ninjas in Pyjamas in a surprisingly quick series, despite it being a best-of-3. The Swedes failed to truly show up in the grand-finals since their star sniper Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz had to miss the deciding games.

Love "phzy" Smidebrant joined NiP for the event and managed to lead his team toa sensational victory over last major's finalists G2 Esports, but it seems now that his Cinderella story is now over as dev1ce will surely rejoin the team for the BLAST Premier: World Final. Still, phzy showed a great performance on his first-ever tier-1 event, beating both Patrick "es3tag" Hansen and Hampus "hampus" Poser in terms of after-game stats.

Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut from Team Vitality, though, outperformed every single one of the players on server and ended the grand final with an astounding 1.41 rating. That was only natural that HLTV.org members decided to award him with an MVP medal. ZywOo was named the best player of the years 2019 and 2020, but it seems like he won't be able to score a hat-trick in that sense as Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev really showed up in 2021. Still, winning IEM Winter will definitely cheer ZywOo up after a turbulent season.
