As narrative-focused games continue to find audiences beyond blockbuster action releases, developers are increasingly looking for ways to extend their worlds through production archives, cast features, and new platforms. AdHoc is taking that approach for Dispatch, marking the superhero workplace comedy's first anniversary with new play modes available now and a mobile version planned for December.
A behind-the-scenes version of Dispatch
The anniversary update introduces Storyboard Mode, which lets players experience Dispatch using the original animatics created during development. These rough visual sequences were used to align artwork with recorded performances before the finished presentation was completed, offering a direct look at how the game's scenes took shape. It is an uncommon feature for a released game and fits Dispatch particularly well, given its animated presentation and emphasis on character-driven scenes.
Cast and developers add more than 16 hours of commentary
AdHoc has also added DVD-style commentary tracks across the game. The collection includes more than 16 hours of discussion from members of the development team and cast, with stories and observations from production accompanying the experience. Contributors include art director Derek Stratton, creative directors Dennis Lenart and Nick Herman, plus performers Aaron Paul, Laura Bailey, and Erin Yvette. Storyboard Mode and Commentary Mode are part of the Deluxe Edition, which existing owners can upgrade to for $10.99.
Touch controls bring the episodic story to phones
Dispatch will arrive on iOS and Android on December 9. The mobile edition has been rebuilt for touch input and vertical play, a notable change for a title initially designed around a more traditional screen layout. Players will be able to try the opening half of the season at no cost, as the first four episodes will be free. Access to the remaining episodes will require a $19.99 purchase. The release gives AdHoc a way to reach players who may be more likely to engage with episodic fiction in shorter mobile sessions.
Merchandise and a one-night soundtrack event follow
The anniversary plans also extend outside the game. AdHoc and publisher Lost in Cult are preparing Dispatch: Design Works, a book combining artwork with material about the game's creation. A live soundtrack concert is scheduled for December 3 at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles. The show will feature Thot Squad, Bershy, Primer, Caroline Kingsbury, Fartbarf, and composer Andrew Arcadi with the SDN Company Band. It will not be livestreamed, and people registered for updates through AdHoc's website will receive early access to ticket purchasing.

Expert View
Dispatch's update shows how interactive dramas can build value after launch without relying on competitive content or major gameplay expansions. Commentary and storyboard material reward invested fans while turning the production process into part of the product. Meanwhile, the mobile release could be the more consequential move: a free opening block lowers the barrier for a story-led game and gives AdHoc a practical route to grow the audience for a format that depends heavily on word of mouth.
