What changes on September 24
The next Epic Games Store promotion combines a sci-fi mech auto-battler with a deck-building roguelite. Mechabellum will make its Epic debut as part of the weekly giveaway. Its gameplay revolves around purchasing mechs, positioning them before a battle, selecting upgrades, and allowing the units to fight automatically. Players can revise their armies between rounds to respond to enemy compositions and battlefield placement.
Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles was previously offered as Epic’s mystery game in December 2024, but only for one day. This time, it will be claimable for the full giveaway window, giving players who missed it another opportunity to add it to their libraries.

Mechabellum is aimed at players who enjoy strategy built around preparation rather than direct unit control. It includes competitive 1v1 and 2v2 matches, four-player free-for-all games, and solo or cooperative PvE battles. The title has collected more than 19,400 “Very Positive” Steam reviews since launching in 2024, although it does not yet have an Epic user rating. The source notes that its Epic platform launch is scheduled for September 25.
Astrea offers a more turn-based roguelite experience, using a deck-building structure developed by Brazilian studio Little Leo Games. It launched to an 87 average score on OpenCritic and an 88% positive Steam rating from more than 1,000 player reviews, making it the more established critical performer of the pair.
What comes next for the September lineup
The September 24 promotion completes Epic’s September 2026 free-game lineup. Excluding titles that carried over from late August, the month includes seven games worth $114.93 at their regular retail prices. That total is lower than August’s seven-game, $187.94 lineup and July’s nine-game offering valued at $193.91.
Astrea also continues Epic’s recent focus on roguelites. Since late July, the store has given away OTXO, Sol Cesto, Astral Ascent, Shogun Showdown, and the ongoing detective game Mindcop. Players interested in either upcoming title should claim them before the October 1 deadline rather than relying on a later return.
