Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.56 launched on September 8, 2026, adding the game’s long-awaited Beastmaster Limited Job and four main scenario quests that lead into Evercold. Players who have completed the required story content can begin the new level 100 quests now, while Beastmaster is available to eligible Dawntrail owners with another job at level 50. The update also expands endgame systems, begins PvP Series 12, and moves the Switch 2 version out of beta.
What changed in Patch 7.56
The patch’s main story begins after “Trail to the Heavens.” Tataru at The Rising Stones in Mor Dhona offers “A Winter’s Dream,” followed by three additional quests. These are the final main scenario quests available before Evercold is scheduled to arrive in January 2027, and they do not add a new dungeon or trial.
Beastmaster begins with “Strangers in the Wood,” available from the Excited Adventurer in New Gridania after players complete “The Ultimate Weapon.” The melee DPS Limited Job starts at level 1, has a level 50 cap, and shares equipment with monk and samurai. Its gameplay centers on capturing creatures, building a Bestiary, summoning familiars, and combining instinctual skills into attacks. Players can also enter the solo Crucible of the Unbroken, where team selection, familiar progression, board hazards, and scoring shape each run.
Who should play now
Story-focused players should complete “Trail to the Heavens” before starting the new scenario. Beastmaster requires Dawntrail, a separate level 50 Disciple of War or Magic, and completion of “The Ultimate Weapon,” so free trial players cannot access it. As a Limited Job, Beastmaster cannot use role actions or enter Duty Roulettes, PvP, deep dungeons, ultimate raids, variant and criterion dungeons, or several other activities. It can still join preformed or unrestricted parties.
Patch 7.56 also makes the AAC Heavyweight Tier Savage fights more accessible. Treasure coffers always appear, weekly reward and entry limits are removed, players can enter any match directly, and a 12% Echo boosts maximum HP, damage, and healing potency. The weekly cap for Allagan tomestones of mnemonics rises from 450 to 900, while the storage limit remains 2,000.
What comes next for FF14
PvP Series 11 has ended, with Series 12 running from Patch 7.56 until Patch 8.0. Players can earn Series EXP through any PvP duty and claim older Series 11 rewards until Series 12 concludes.
The Switch 2 release has also left beta, meaning owners now need a recurring subscription for that console version. Its subscription is separate from the shared PC, PlayStation, and Xbox plan, although existing players can add Switch 2 access at a 50% discount. New furnishings, music, achievements, facewear, a hairstyle, and other items are included as well.
Looking ahead, the Keybound Brawler mini-game reaches the Manderville Gold Saucer on October 28. More Evercold information, including a possible release date, is planned for Tokyo FanFest during Halloween weekend.

Expert View
Patch 7.56 is a substantial bridge update rather than a full expansion-scale release. Its story content is brief, but Beastmaster gives collectors and solo-focused players a detailed new progression system, while the Savage adjustments lower barriers for returning raiders. Players uninterested in Limited Jobs or endgame challenges may prefer to wait for Evercold, but this patch provides a clear reason for active fans to return before January.
