As major single-player releases continue to anchor PlayStation's first-party lineup, Sucker Punch is expanding Ghost of Yotei with more than a traditional story add-on. During Sony's September 3 State of Play, the studio showed its upcoming Most Wanted mode and confirmed a surprise addition: Jin Sakai, the protagonist of Ghost of Tsushima, will return as one of its playable characters.
A larger celebration for Ghost of Yotei
Ghost of Yotei is approaching its first anniversary, with October set to bring several new ways to play. Sucker Punch has announced a Complete Edition as well as additional content, including the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion and the Most Wanted mode. Players who already own the game will also receive a free update containing Beauty of Yotei mode, extra music for Watanabe Mode, and transmog support. The latter will let players change their equipment's appearance without replacing its existing stats.
Most Wanted turns the game into a combat survival challenge
Most Wanted is built around bounty hunts against members of the Yotei Six. Players choose a target from a bounty board, then fight through enemy waves and minibosses before reaching that target. Completing waves unlocks perks that support different character builds, while money earned during runs can be spent between attempts on weapons, techniques, charms, and additional playable characters. The structure gives the mode a progression loop separate from the main campaign while keeping its focus on Ghost of Yotei's combat.
Jin Sakai brings familiar tools to the new mode
Jin is the fourth playable character revealed for Most Wanted. He retains his katana and all four original stances, but Sucker Punch has adjusted him for Ghost of Yotei's new format. His ultimate ability is Dance of Wrath, which can target and disarm multiple enemies. His Kill Streak is Ghost Stance, an ability that frightens nearby opponents and allows Jin to eliminate them with a single hit. The return should appeal to Ghost of Tsushima players without making Jin a simple copy of his earlier incarnation.
Three other hunters round out the initial roster
Players begin with Atsu, who fights with two katanas and uses the Blind Bomb and Blinding Powder. Her ultimate summons two wolves, while Onryo's Howl serves as her Kill Streak. Oyuki specializes in the kusarigama and also carries a rifle; her Shadow Killer ultimate uses smoke to assassinate two enemies, and Shadow Shinobi summons Nine Tail allies. Nagato, a new character who will debut in Echoes of Sekigahara, offers a broader arsenal with a spear, pistol, long bow, and short bow. His Gambler's Mark can guarantee headshots on two enemies.
No PC expansion has been announced
Unlike Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut, which eventually reached PC, Ghost of Yotei is not currently expected to expand to that platform. The source information places the game among Sony's console-focused single-player titles, while multiplayer-oriented projects such as Marathon and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls are positioned for broader platform availability.

Expert View
Jin Sakai's inclusion gives Ghost of Yotei a strong connection to the franchise's previous chapter while making Most Wanted more attractive to returning players. The mode's character roster and upgrade system also suggest an attempt to extend the game's lifespan through repeatable combat rather than relying only on a one-time story expansion. For the community, the key question will be how the different weapons, ultimates, and perks interact once players begin building specialized runs. The lack of a PC release may limit the audience compared with Ghost of Tsushima, but the anniversary package still gives Sucker Punch several ways to keep its console player base engaged.
