How to Claim Poke Ball Pattern Vivillon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Pokémon Legends: Z-A owners can now add the rare Poke Ball Pattern Vivillon to their collection at no cost. The reward is available through Mystery Gift on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, and players do not need to have contributed to the community challenge that unlocked it. There is plenty of time to redeem it, but collectors should claim it before the distribution closes in February 2027.

What changed with the Vivillon Challenge

The Pokémon Company has confirmed that the Vivillon Challenge’s shared target has been met. Players collectively needed to earn 660,000 points by evolving Spewpa into Vivillon, with completion unlocking a Poke Ball Pattern Vivillon for the entire player base. The important part for anyone returning to the game is that participation is not required. Every owner of Pokémon Legends: Z-A can receive the Pokémon while the Mystery Gift campaign remains active.

How players can redeem the free Pokémon

Claiming the gift requires an internet connection and a few menu selections rather than a code. Open the in-game menu, enter Link Play, choose Mystery Gift, and select Get via Internet. The Poke Ball Pattern Vivillon is available until February 25, 2027, at 5:59 p.m. PST. The offer supports copies of Pokémon Legends: Z-A on Switch and Switch 2, including players using the newer Switch 2 edition or an upgraded version.

Why this distribution matters for collectors

Poke Ball Pattern Vivillon is a particularly notable reward because it was last distributed in May 2016. For players who missed that earlier event, this release provides access to the final pattern needed for a full set of 20 Vivillon forms. Pokémon Legends: Z-A also offers Meadow Pattern and Garden Pattern Vivillon, while Marine Pattern comes from the special Spewpa obtained through Side Mission 21 at the museum. Other patterns can be found elsewhere across the wider Pokémon series.

What players should know

• The gift is available to all Pokémon Legends: Z-A owners, even if they did not take part in the Vivillon Challenge.
• Redeem it through Link Play, then Mystery Gift, then Get via Internet.
• The distribution ends on February 25, 2027, at 5:59 p.m. PST.
• This Poke Ball Pattern Vivillon is shiny-locked, so it cannot be received as a Shiny from Mystery Gift.
• Breeding after moving it through Pokémon Home will not create Poke Ball Pattern offspring; Eggs hatch into Vivillon’s base form.

This is a worthwhile pickup for completion-focused players because the Poke Ball Pattern has been absent from official distribution for more than a decade. It is less significant for players only interested in battling, especially since it cannot be shiny hunted, but the simple redemption process makes it sensible to claim before the deadline.
