Xbox Game Pass subscribers looking for a new multiplayer RPG can start Kernel Hearts today. The day-one release combines fast action, roguelite runs, anime-inspired magical-girl heroes, and optional online co-op. It is the seventh new title added to the service in September 2026 and the 141st Xbox Game Pass release of the year.

Kernel Hearts officially launched for PC and consoles on September 17 at 1 p.m. ET, joining Microsoft's subscription catalog at the same time. Players can tackle the game alone or join online co-op sessions. Between runs, the hub provides space to spend resources on upgrades and equipment, meet NPCs, and develop relationships. What comes next in the September lineup
Kernel Hearts is not the final new Xbox Game Pass arrival scheduled for the month. Four additional releases are listed for September: Well Dweller, Dune: Awakening, Mad King Redemption, and Minecraft Dungeons 2.
The service has also expanded access to Ninja Gaiden 4, which is now available through the Xbox Game Pass Premium tier. The game originally launched as a day-one addition in September 2025 for PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Microsoft has scheduled Gears of War: E-Day for Xbox Game Pass on October 6. Because that date falls on the first Tuesday of the month, it is also the likely timing for the formal announcement of the October 2026 Wave 1 lineup.
