LEGO Link and Epona Set Revealed for Zelda’s 40th Anniversary

Nintendo’s 40th-anniversary celebration for The Legend of Zelda is expanding beyond games, hardware, and collectibles. During a dedicated Nintendo Direct, the company officially revealed a new LEGO set depicting Link riding Epona, drawing directly from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The announcement arrived alongside new information about the upcoming remake, additional amiibo, and a worldwide concert series.

A New Ocarina of Time Display Piece

The LEGO Link and Epona set recreates one of Ocarina of Time’s most recognizable images: Link mounted on Epona while carrying the Master Sword. Rather than using a traditional minifigure, the model presents Link in a larger, non-minifigure LEGO form. That makes the reveal notable for both Zelda fans and collectors, as it marks the first time Link has appeared in this format within an official Zelda set.

The scene focuses on Epona’s role in Link’s journey through Hyrule. In Ocarina of Time, Link summons the horse by playing Epona’s Song on the ocarina, and riding across Hyrule Field became one of the game’s defining experiences. The Nintendo Switch 2 remake will add the option to hum the tune into the console’s microphone, allowing Link to play it automatically.

Nintendo and LEGO have not announced the set’s price, piece count, or release date. The reveal therefore provides a first look at the model without confirming when collectors will be able to buy it. No minifigures were shown as part of the set either.

Link and Epona will join two previously announced official Zelda LEGO sets: Ocarina of Time – The Final Battle and Great Deku Tree 2-in-1. The former depicts the confrontation between Link and Ganondorf in a 1,003-piece set. The Great Deku Tree model offers versions based on Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild, although that set has since been retired and is no longer available for purchase.

Zelda’s Anniversary Celebration Continues

The LEGO reveal was one part of a broader anniversary presentation. Nintendo showed the first gameplay footage of the Ocarina of Time remake and confirmed a November 5 release date. A special-edition Nintendo Switch 2 and Pro Controller styled around The Legend of Zelda are scheduled to launch on October 29, ahead of the remake.

Nintendo also announced new amiibo based on Young Link and Young Zelda, as well as a new series of Zelda concerts planned for a worldwide tour. With the LEGO set’s timing still unknown, fans may receive the game, hardware, amiibo, and concert announcements before the new Link and Epona display model reaches stores.
