LEGO has officially added three LEGO Friends builds to its January 1, 2027 release slate, bringing a pet-focused play center, a double-decker party bus, and a large Heartlake City shopping mall. The announcement matters because it expands the still-early confirmed lineup for 2027, which now stands at 21 sets across LEGO’s revealed plans.
What happened: Three LEGO Friends sets join the 2027 lineup
The newly revealed wave covers three price points and build sizes. The 42709 Pet Care & Play Center is the entry-level release at $49.99 and 366 pieces. It depicts an animal retreat staffed by Leo, Nova, and Amara, with several pet characters and modular interior details including a removable reception desk. At $59.99, the 676-piece 42718 Friendship Party Bus brings a double-decker vehicle build with a splash area that folds out. The biggest set is the 42719 Heartlake City Shopping Mall, priced at $99.99 and built from 843 pieces.
Why it matters: A broad January range for Friends collectors
All three models are aimed at builders aged seven and above, but their scale gives shoppers notably different options. The Pet Care & Play Center is a compact display and play set, while the Shopping Mall is a two-story, four-store complex that stretches beyond 16 inches, or 40 cm, wide. Its features include an operational elevator, matcha cafe, salon, game shop, and a toy vending machine that works. The mall also includes 10 charms and reuses recognizable smiling plant-pot elements associated with LEGO’s Botanicals range.
What to watch next: More 2027 announcements remain possible
LEGO began outlining its 2027 catalog in August, when eight Super Mario sets were shown at Gamescom 2026. Subsequent reveals have brought the official total to 21 products, with these three Friends sets contributing to that number. There is also room for more Friends news before launch: 10 additional sets were reportedly leaked in August, though LEGO has not formally announced them. Until that changes, the Pet Care & Play Center, Friendship Party Bus, and Heartlake City Shopping Mall are the confirmed January Friends releases.
Key takeaways for LEGO Friends fans
- All three sets launch worldwide on January 1, 2027.
- Prices run from $49.99 for the pet center to $99.99 for the shopping mall.
- The Friendship Party Bus sits between them with 676 pieces and a folding splash zone.
- The 843-piece mall is the largest build and includes a game shop with a working vending machine.

Expert View
This is a smartly tiered Friends wave: LEGO is offering a smaller character-and-pet set, a mid-range vehicle, and a substantial destination build without forcing collectors into one format. The mall is the standout, especially for builders who value interactive functions and dense retail-themed details, while the familiar Botanicals pieces provide a subtle incentive for wider LEGO collectors to take notice.
