No Rest for the Wicked 1.0 Launch Delayed to March 2027

Players waiting for the full release of No Rest for the Wicked will have to wait longer. Moon Studios has moved the dark fantasy action RPG's 1.0 launch from October to March 2027, giving the team additional time to improve performance, refine the class system, and address broader feedback from playtesting. A final planned closed beta is scheduled for December.

What changed for No Rest for the Wicked

Moon Studios previously confirmed that No Rest for the Wicked would leave Early Access in October, but that target has now been abandoned. Creative director Thomas Mahler said in a video update that extensive testing showed the game still needed more work before its full release. The studio is focusing in particular on gameplay performance and the class system, alongside other general polishing work.

The delay moves the 1.0 launch to March 2027. The game entered PC Early Access in April 2024 after being revealed at The Game Awards in 2023, so the revised schedule extends its development period considerably beyond the original full-release window.

Who is affected by the delay

Anyone planning to play at launch on PC or PlayStation 5 will now be waiting until March. No Rest for the Wicked is also planned for Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2, although those versions do not yet have a confirmed release date.

The change also affects players interested in the Founder's Pack. Early Access players were originally told they had until July 1 to purchase the pack, but Moon Studios has extended that deadline to January 1, 2027. The pack includes special in-game items. PlayStation 5 players will be able to purchase it when console pre-orders begin in January.

What happens before the March launch

Moon Studios plans to hold another closed beta in December. It is described as the final beta planned before release and will give players another opportunity to test the game and provide feedback before the 1.0 version arrives a few months later.

The RPG follows efforts to rescue an island suffering from a supernatural pestilence. Its design combines influences associated with Diablo, Dark Souls, and town-building games: players battle through monsters and dungeons while restoring a settlement. The campaign supports solo play and co-op for up to four players in a shared world instance.

Expert View

The delay is disappointing for players who expected the October release, but the reasons given are meaningful rather than cosmetic. A game built around combat, classes, co-op, and settlement progression benefits from additional testing, especially when the studio has identified performance and system-level improvements as priorities. The December beta should provide a useful checkpoint, although players will still need to wait until March 2027 for the definitive version.
