Palworld Has Rejected Many Collaborations That Did Not Fit Its World

Crossovers have become a major part of the modern games industry, from Fortnite and Super Smash Bros. to Magic: The Gathering's growing Universe Beyond lineup. Palworld, however, has taken a comparatively selective approach. Pocketpair's Head of Publishing and Communications, Bucky, says the studio has turned down a substantial number of collaboration proposals because they did not make sense for the monster-catching survival game.

Pocketpair Wants Collaborations to Fit Palworld

Bucky discussed Pocketpair's collaboration strategy while responding to reactions to the game's Terraria crossover. The developer acknowledged that some players may find the partnership unusual from a lore perspective, but explained that Palworld approaches collaborations primarily as a source of fun rather than strict narrative consistency.

That philosophy does not mean every proposed partnership reaches the game. According to Bucky, Pocketpair will reject a collaboration when it does not feel appropriate for Palworld. The comment also suggested that the company has declined far more potential crossovers than players may realize, although no rejected franchises were identified.

Palworld Has Only Added Two Official Game Crossovers

Pocketpair's selective approach is reflected in Palworld's limited collaboration history. The Terraria partnership was the game's first official in-game crossover, introducing the Tides of Terraria event, a special dungeon, and enemies based on Re-Logic's game.

A second collaboration arrived with ULTRAKILL in December 2025. That partnership added V1 and V2 armor as equipment that players could unlock through Ancient Technology Points. Beyond those two additions, Pocketpair has not confirmed another crossover for the main game.

A Selective Strategy Could Protect Palworld's Identity

Palworld became one of gaming's biggest recent success stories after entering early access in 2024. Its combination of creature collection and survival systems helped it reach 8 million sales during its first week. The game later received its Version 1.0 update in July 2026, adding more Pals and new areas.

That momentum gives Pocketpair plenty of opportunities to pursue high-profile partnerships, but frequent guest appearances could also make the game's identity less distinct. Limiting crossovers to concepts that can support Palworld's tone and gameplay may help the studio preserve that identity while still giving players occasional surprises.

More Palworld Content Is Already in Development

The lack of a confirmed future crossover does not indicate that Palworld is running out of plans. Pocketpair has teased development on Version 1.1, which would be the first major update following the game's full release. The studio is also expanding Palworld beyond its original format, having launched a trading card game in late July and announced the farming-simulation spinoff Palworld: Palfarm in late 2025.

For now, players will have to wait for official details before assuming another guest franchise is on the way. Bucky's comments make clear that any future partnership will need to pass Pocketpair's internal test for whether it genuinely belongs in Palworld.
