The creator's argument is that Emerald's original presentation does not match that real-world geography, making the rotation a corrective interpretation rather than a broad redesign. The source material does not identify those additions, but the project otherwise aims to preserve the original adventure rather than turn it into a full remake.
Meanwhile, official Gen 3 availability on Nintendo Switch remains unconfirmed. A post from the official Japanese Pokemon account showed what appeared to be Ruby and Sapphire running on the system, and reports have pointed toward possible Switch versions of Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. No release date has been announced, so the rotated ROM hack currently offers the clearest alternative for players who want a new challenge in Hoenn.
