Pokemon GO Halloween 2026 Event Brings Four New Debuts

Seasonal live-service events remain one of mobile gaming’s most reliable ways to bring players back, and Pokémon GO is leaning into that formula for Halloween 2026. The annual spooky celebration will return across two event phases, with limited-time costumed Pokémon, the debut of Shiny Greavard, themed exploration rewards and a new incentive for players building Mega Sableye.

A familiar Halloween format returns

Pokémon GO’s Halloween event has long been associated with Dark- and Ghost-type encounters, map decorations and temporary visual changes. In 2026, the event will again switch the game’s nighttime soundtrack to Lavender Town music while decorating PokéStops, Gyms and encounter screens for the season. The celebration arrives during the Twilight Trails season and follows a year of anniversary activity for the mobile game, including special events tied to its 10th anniversary.

Four Pokémon additions headline the event

The biggest new content comes from four Halloween debuts. Players can encounter Pikachu wearing a pancake-inspired hat and capelet, Zubat in a top hat, and Sinistea wearing a Drifloon bow tie. Each of those costumed Pokémon will be available in one-star raids as well as through event spawning, and their Shiny versions may be available through lucky encounters. The fourth debut is Shiny Greavard. Greavard itself first entered Pokémon GO during the 2023 Halloween event, making its Shiny release a notable return for collectors.

Rewards extend beyond encounters

The event will include themed Field Research tasks and rewards through the GO Pass. Players can also find scattered items on the in-game map; tapping them can grant random rewards, including event-themed Pokémon encounters and Rare Candy. New Gothic avatar items and Halloween stickers will be added as well. Stickers can be acquired through the shop, PokéStop spins or Gifts, while GO Pass Deluxe adds Patissier avatar apparel, extra special encounters and Rare Candy XL.

Part two gives Mega Sableye a new goal

Halloween’s second phase adds a progression-focused feature for Sableye. Players using the Super Max Level system can raise Mega Sableye’s Mega Level to unlock the Night Shade+ Charged Attack while it is Mega Evolved. Its power scales with Sableye’s Mega Level, creating a direct reason to continue investing resources into the Pokémon during the event.

Expert View

The event shows Pokémon GO continuing to package collection goals, cosmetic rewards and progression systems into one seasonal loop. Shiny Greavard and the costumed raid pool should appeal to collectors, while Mega Sableye’s scalable attack gives more dedicated players a reason to engage beyond catching event spawns. For the broader franchise community, this is a familiar but effective live-service approach: recognizable seasonal presentation paired with limited additions that reward repeated play.
