What happened
October's Pokemon GO Community Day is set for Saturday, October 10, from 2 to 5 PM local time. Zorua will appear more frequently during that period, with the increased Shiny odds normally associated with Community Day events. Players who evolve Zorua during the event or within the following four hours will receive a Zoroark that knows Sucker Punch as a Fast Attack.
The event bonuses are built around catching and powering up a collection. Catches will award triple XP and double Candy, while players above level 31 will have twice the usual chance of receiving Candy XL. Incense activated during the main event will run for three hours, and Lure Modules will remain active for one hour.
Why it matters
Zorua is an unusual Community Day choice because of how it appears on Pokemon GO's map. The Pokemon disguises itself as the player's current Buddy Pokemon, meaning players will not identify it in the wild by its normal silhouette unless they are using Zorua as their Buddy. That mechanic makes the event different from a standard spawn hunt and could make preparation especially important.
The October event will feature only the standard Zorua associated with the Unova region. Hisuian Zorua will not appear, despite being a regional variant of the same species. The decision avoids mixing two forms that share the same Buddy-based map disguise, although the developer has not directly explained the choice.
Players will also have access to Zorua with a special background. From 2 to 10 PM local time, Zorua will appear frequently at PokeStops with an active Lure Module. These encounters will retain the same Shiny and special-background rates available during the three-hour Community Day window, creating an additional opportunity for players who cannot participate during the core hours.
What to watch next
The event is part of the Twilight Trails season, which began in September. A Gible Community Day Classic took place on September 12, while the schedule also includes a Community Day on Saturday, November 21 whose featured Pokemon and bonuses have not yet been announced. Twilight Trails is scheduled to end on December 1.
Pokemon GO has often used December for a broader Community Day event featuring Pokemon from earlier events in the year, but no 2026 December plans have been confirmed. For now, October's Zorua event is the clearest upcoming target for players planning their calendars, stockpiling catching resources, or chasing a Shiny and a special-background encounter.
