Pokemon Legends: Z-A Spewpa Gift Ends November 18

Pokemon Legends: Z-A players can now add a free Spewpa to their collection through Mystery Gift, with the distribution running until November 18. The giveaway matters most to Pokédex collectors: the gifted Pokémon can evolve into one of 16 Vivillon patterns that are not all normally available in Lumiose City, while the player community has already unlocked an additional rare Vivillon reward.

What happened: a new Spewpa Mystery Gift is live

The Pokémon Company has launched a free online Mystery Gift distribution for Pokémon Legends: Z-A on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Players can claim one special Spewpa per save file until November 18 at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET. The distribution accompanies the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and Mega Dimension bundle release.

Spewpa evolves at level 12, and this event version will become one of 16 Vivillon patterns at random. Players cannot select the resulting pattern, so the gift offers a useful start for collectors rather than a guaranteed route to a preferred form. Vivillon has 20 patterns in total, and several of those appearances cannot ordinarily be encountered around Lumiose City.

Why it matters: collectors have another reason to return

Vivillon’s regional pattern system has always made it a completion challenge, and Z-A’s latest distribution directly targets that audience. Because the evolution result is random and each save can receive only one Spewpa, anyone chasing every available pattern will still need to trade with other players to build out their collection.

The event also does not require a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. Players do need an internet connection and a linked Nintendo Account, however. Mystery Gift must first be unlocked through Mable’s Research, a progression step that generally takes around an hour of playtime. That requirement means brand-new players should not leave the claim until the final day.

What to watch next: Pokeball Pattern Vivillon is coming

The Spewpa giveaway launched alongside the Vivillon Challenge, which asked the global player base to earn 660,000 Vivillon Points by evolving Spewpa. The target was reached in a single day, unlocking a future distribution for the rare Pokeball Pattern Vivillon.

The Pokémon Company has not announced when that reward will be available. For now, the completed challenge does not replace the active Spewpa promotion: players still have until November 18 to collect the current Mystery Gift. The quick completion also signals strong early engagement from collectors, especially among players interested in forms unavailable through normal exploration.

What players should do before the deadline

  • Unlock Mystery Gift through Mable’s Research if it is not yet available on your save.
  • Open the main menu, select Link Play, then choose Mystery Gift and Get via Internet.
  • Claim the free Spewpa before November 18 at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET.
  • Raise Spewpa to level 12 to receive a random Vivillon pattern.
  • Watch for a later announcement on the unlocked Pokeball Pattern Vivillon distribution.

Expert View

This is a smart, low-friction collection event: it gives returning players a meaningful reason to log in without placing the reward behind a subscription. The random evolution outcome preserves trading as part of the Vivillon hunt, while the one-day community milestone gives The Pokémon Company clear momentum to build on with the promised Pokeball Pattern release.
