PlayStation Plus is turning October 6 into one of its busiest days of the month, combining the release of its October 2026 Essential games with several promotional rewards. Alongside three games available across every subscription tier, members can claim limited-edition Spider-Man: Brand New Day avatars through Sony Pictures Core, while a separate Hunt: Showdown 1896 Starter Pack will also be available.
A packed October 6 for PlayStation Plus members
The October 2026 Essential lineup becomes available on Tuesday, October 6. Subscribers can add F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 to their digital libraries regardless of which PS Plus tier they use. The games remain accessible as long as the subscription is active, provided they are claimed before the offer ends on November 2.
That release window gives members a broad mix of content, from racing and competitive hunting to cooperative action. Hunt: Showdown 1896 is especially notable because it also connects to a separate PS Plus Horror Fest reward arriving on the same day.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day avatars are the headline bonus
Sony is also offering a set of limited-edition PlayStation avatars based on Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The collection includes Spider-Man and The Punisher among its featured characters, and PS Plus members can claim the avatars through the Sony Pictures Core app.
The offer is not exclusive to subscribers in every circumstance. Players without PS Plus can still obtain the avatars by purchasing Spider-Man: Brand New Day through Sony Pictures Core. That makes the promotion both a membership perk and a way to connect the film with Sony’s digital entertainment ecosystem.
Horror Fest continues beyond the October 6 launch
The same day brings a Starter Pack for Hunt: Showdown 1896 as part of the PS Plus Horror Fest promotion. It follows a previous Call of Duty: Warzone pack that could be used in Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
The promotion concludes with an Overwatch reward on October 7. PS Plus subscribers will be able to claim the Dragur Reinhardt skin and five tier skips, giving the event a final bonus immediately after the October 6 wave.
Extra and Premium additions remain under wraps
Sony has not announced the complete October 2026 selection for the Extra and Premium tiers. Mycopunk is confirmed as one of the upcoming additions, however. The four-player cooperative looter-shooter launched on PC in 2025 and received mostly positive reviews.
Members still have one final opportunity to claim September’s Essential games before the offer expires on October 5. MLB The Show 26, Sniper Elite: Resistance, and Wobbly Life remain available until then.

Expert View
The October schedule shows how PlayStation is using PS Plus as more than a monthly game library. A major franchise promotion, service-wide games, and timed in-game rewards create several reasons for members to check in during the same week. For the community, the main uncertainty now shifts to the unrevealed Extra and Premium lineup, with Mycopunk serving as an early indication that the month’s deeper catalog will include newer cooperative experiences.
