Saros Zenith Update Adds Boss Rush, New Game+ and Accessibility Options

Saros players looking for more endgame challenge, leaderboard competition, or options to make the game's fast combat easier to manage can now download the free Zenith update. The patch is the largest post-launch addition yet, led by a boss-rush mode, a layered New Game+ structure, fresh modifiers, and several optional accessibility settings.

What changed in the Zenith update?

The headline addition is Overlord Rush, a training-style boss-rush mode built around defeating the Overlords from the main campaign as quickly as possible. Runs are scored and feed into an integrated global leaderboard, giving competitive players a repeatable way to compare results. Incursion and Ascension Sets each feature three Overlords, while the Totality Set asks players to clear all eight in a single attempt. Zenith also expands Saros beyond its original campaign loop with Eclipse Layers, a New Game+ mode unlocked after finishing the game. Each new Layer raises the stakes by requiring more Trial Modifiers before a run can begin, although players retain control over which Trials they accept.

Who benefits from the new options?

The update serves two different audiences. Players chasing tougher runs receive 10 new Trial Modifiers, including effects that can strengthen enemies through regeneration. Eclipse Layers also adds visual rewards: from Layer 2 onward, Arjun gains a crown and golden armor whose appearance becomes more pronounced as the active Trial balance rises. Later Layers contain collectible Visions of a King, including environmental murals and writings previously unavailable. Meanwhile, players who found Saros intimidating can use optional motion-sensor aiming, high-contrast character and enemy displays, adjustable game speed, and weapon auto-fire. Auto-fire can be enabled for the main weapon, the power weapon, or both, reducing the need to continuously hold a trigger during combat.

What should returning players do next?

Returning players should first decide whether they want a competitive, experimental, or more accessible run. Overlord Rush is the clearest destination for score chasers, while Eclipse Layers is the route for those who have cleared the campaign and want escalating conditions. The Carcosan Modifier system has grown by 20 options in total: 10 Protection modifiers designed to help players survive and 10 Trials intended to make runs more demanding. Modifiers now also have a Mastery track earned by defeating hostiles while they are equipped. Elsewhere, Zenith revises Artifact progression, adds new Artifact Corruption effects, adjusts several modifier costs and damage values, and gives locked yellow containers a chance to yield higher-tier Artifacts. Six trophies and new Photo Mode controls round out the update.

What players should know

  • Zenith is a free update for Saros and is available now.
  • Overlord Rush offers three boss-rush sets, including an eight-Overlord Totality challenge.
  • Eclipse Layers is unlocked only after completing Saros and functions as the game's New Game+ mode.
  • Accessibility tools such as slow game speed and auto-fire are optional, so they do not force changes on players seeking the original challenge.
  • New Protection and Trial Modifiers support both lower-pressure builds and higher-risk challenge runs.

Expert View

Zenith appears to be a meaningful reason to revisit Saros rather than a minor balance patch. Housemarque has added clear paths for leaderboard-focused veterans, New Game+ explorers, and players who need more control over the game's demanding pace. The new tools will not solve every difficulty concern, but their optional design preserves the challenge for players who prefer Saros unchanged.
