If you’re planning your July 2026 grind in Pokemon GO, Niantic just locked in the month’s Community Day centerpiece: Sobble. The event runs July 4 (2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time) with increased Shiny odds, time-limited bonuses, and an evolution window that changes what moves you can get—plus July is already stacked with other major activities.
What changed: Sobble is the July 2026 Community Day pick
Niantic has revealed that Sobble will be featured for Pokemon GO’s Community Day event in July. Community Days are designed to make it easier to obtain Shiny versions of the featured Pokemon, and they typically run once per month, with additional Community Day Classic events appearing elsewhere in the year.
For the current season’s calendar, Niantic also clarified that “Forever Forward” will not include a Community Day Classic event. The next Community Day is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, featuring Frigibax. Looking ahead, Niantic plans another Community Day spotlight on Sunday, August 16, chosen from a player vote between Tadbulb, Nickit, Fidough, and Yamper—though the final results have not been shared yet.
Separately, Niantic addressed controversial claims about the game’s AR scans being used for military drone training, stating it was responding to those reports.
Who benefits: Shiny hunters, evolvers, and battle-focused trainers
Sobble Community Day takes place on Saturday, July 4, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time. During that window, players get a higher chance of encountering Shiny Sobble, and there’s also the possibility of finding a Sobble with a Special Background.
Evolving matters too. Sobble evolves into Drizzile and then Inteleon. If you evolve a Drizzile during the event—or within four hours after—your Inteleon will know the Featured Attack Hydro Cannon. After Community Day begins, Inteleon can also learn the Charged Attack Snipe Shot.
Snipe Shot’s usefulness depends on where you use it: in Trainer Battles it has an Attack value of 65 and can increase Inteleon’s attack by two stages (with the chance to do so). In Gyms and Raids, Snipe Shot’s power is 100.
What comes next: July’s schedule and the Community Day bonus checklist
Niantic will run the standard Community Day bonus package for Sobble. Players receive double Candy for all catches, and trainers above Level 31 get a doubled chance to earn XL Candy. Incense activated during the event lasts three hours, and eggs placed in Incubators on Community Day require only 1/4 the normal distance to hatch.
Lure Modules last one hour, and trades cost half the usual Stardust. Players can also make one additional Special Trade. Most of these bonuses are limited to the event hours, but the last three—Lures, reduced-cost trades, and the extra Special Trade—continue through 9 p.m. local time.
This also completes the 2026 Galar starter Community Day rollout: Sobble is the last of the three. Grookey received its Community Day in January, and Scorbunny’s took place in March. Niantic hasn’t announced anything beyond August, but December Community Day events are typically treated as make-ups that highlight Pokemon featured earlier in the year—meaning players who miss the Shiny opportunities for the other two Galar starters may still get another chance later in 2026.
Finally, July is already packed: Pokemon GO Fest 2026 runs July 11–12, Spotlight Hours have returned weekly every Thursday, and July 18 brings a Super Mega Raid Day focused on Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y.

Expert View
Sobble’s Community Day looks like a strong “all-purpose” event: it’s built for Shiny collection with the usual double-Candy and XL boosts, but it also rewards players who care about movesets, thanks to Hydro Cannon for properly-timed evolutions and Snipe Shot access for Inteleon. If you’re managing your July schedule, prioritize July 4 for the evolution window, then plan around Pokemon GO Fest and the other July raid/Spotlight activities rather than spreading your resources too thin.
