Star Wars Zero Company has received Update 1.2, its largest patch so far. The headline addition is Campaign Modifiers, a system that lets players set custom rules for new runs, from harsher injury conditions to altered progression and restricted respec options. The update also reins in several powerful abilities, makes facilities less expensive to use, and delivers a broad round of fixes.
What happened in Update 1.2
Campaign Modifiers are the central feature of the patch. Available through Difficulty Settings when starting a new campaign, the options become active after the tutorial and can be used at every difficulty level. Players can change injury limits, introduce permanent-death risk, reduce health growth, limit Advantage generation, allow enemy critical hits, and lock weapon, talent, or tactical specialization changes. Bit Reactor says it intends to explore further modifier configurations in later updates. The feature gives experienced players a clearer route to replay the campaign under self-imposed constraints, while also allowing players to reshape the tactical rules without simply selecting a higher standard difficulty.
Why the balance and economy changes matter
Update 1.2 targets a handful of tools that could dominate encounters. Astromech Self-Repair is now limited to two uses per combat, while Built-In Comlink has a maximum of three uses per turn at top rank. Scout Tactical Timing has been retuned, removing its previous ability to generate Advantage from every kind of attack. Mandalorian operator Cly also receives tighter limits: Electroweb Dart can be used three times per turn and Combat Jump once per turn. Away from combat, the studio has cut costs across much of the Upgrade Facility after observing limited engagement with its Build Slot choices. Recruitment is simpler as well, with every operator now costing 100 Credits rather than becoming more expensive as the roster grows.
What to watch next
The patch contains extensive fixes across abilities, tactical missions, customization, cinematics, user interface, stability, and Overwatch behavior. Several changes focus on reliability in systems where targeting, cover, reaction fire, and save loading can affect an entire encounter. That work is especially significant for a tactics game built around readable outcomes and careful planning. Update 1.2 also arrives after Bit Reactor reportedly brought back more than half of the workers affected by pre-launch furloughs. If the team can sustain post-launch support, future Campaign Modifiers may become an important way to keep veteran players engaged between larger content additions.
What players should do after updating
- Start a new campaign if you want to use Campaign Modifiers; they cannot be switched on mid-campaign.
- Use default rules first if you are still learning the campaign, then add modifiers for a tougher replay.
- Review Astromech, Scout, and Cly builds because their strongest repeat-use options have been limited.
- Revisit the Upgrade Facility, where many research costs have fallen substantially.
- Recruit missing roster roles more freely, as each operator now costs a flat 100 Credits.

Expert View
Update 1.2 is more than a routine balance pass: it gives Zero Company a stronger replay framework while addressing the economy and tactical exploits that can make a strategy campaign feel solved too quickly. The modifier system is the standout because it lets Bit Reactor serve both newcomers and challenge-focused players without fragmenting the core difficulty structure.
