Stellar Blade Switch 2 Port Targets 60 FPS Performance

Nintendo’s Switch 2 is building a stronger library of current-generation ports, and Stellar Blade: Complete Edition is set to be one of its more technically demanding arrivals. Shift Up has now outlined the performance target for the action game, including separate display settings for handheld and docked play.

A 60 FPS Target With Different Display Modes

According to Shift Up chief technology officer Dong-ki Lee, Stellar Blade: Complete Edition will aim for 60 frames per second on Switch 2. The game is planned to render at 720p when played in handheld mode, while docked mode will upscale the image to 1080p. These figures describe the port’s intended output rather than a promise that every scene will maintain the target without variation.

The 60 FPS goal will rely on more than the console’s native rendering capabilities. Switch 2 supports Nvidia DLSS through its Tegra T239 processor, but the version available on Nintendo’s system does not include the frame-generation features found on Nvidia graphics cards such as those in the RTX 50 series.

How Shift Up Plans to Reach the Target

To compensate for the missing DLSS frame-generation option, Shift Up is using frame interpolation from AMD’s FSR 3.1 technology. Lee explained that the game will first run at 30 FPS before interpolation doubles the displayed output to a 60 FPS target.

That approach is intended to limit the input-lag concerns that can accompany generated frames. The technical choice also shows that the Switch 2 version is being tailored around the console’s specific upscaling and performance tools instead of simply matching the feature set available on PC.

Complete Edition Content and Release Outlook

Stellar Blade: Complete Edition will package the base game and its downloadable content together. Nintendo and Shift Up first revealed the Switch 2 port during the June 9 Nintendo Direct. The version will support gyro controls and mouse mode when played with Joy-Con 2 controllers, giving players additional ways to interact with the game.

The port has received an ESRB rating of M for Mature for blood and gore, violence, language, and suggestive themes. It is scheduled for 2026, although Shift Up has not announced a specific release date. Lee separately confirmed that the port will be playable at Tokyo Game Show 2026, which is scheduled for September 16 through 21 at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo.

Docked Upscaled to 1080p 30 FPS base output with frame interpolation targeting 60 FPS

Expert View

Stellar Blade’s planned configuration signals a practical direction for demanding Switch 2 ports: developers may prioritize a higher displayed frame rate through reconstruction and interpolation rather than pursue native rendering at the same output. That could make the game feel more responsive and visually fluid than a locked 30 FPS release, while also making the quality of input handling especially important. With the port appearing at Tokyo Game Show 2026, hands-on demonstrations should provide a clearer indication of how well the approach works in actual play.
