The esports mockumentary series, titled "Players", tells the story of pro LCS gamers who are trying to win their first trophy. One of them is a veteran of LoL esports, and the other is just a 17-year-old newcomer. The movie was released at Paramount+.
The creators of the series headed to Reddit for an AMA, revealing some interesting facts of their collaboration with Riot Games. The most important take from the partnership is the following:
Riot engineers actually went back and helped us build a working 2016 engine for us to do our own game capture on. It was a HUGE win for authenticity for the show.
The helping hand of Riot has taken the series to a more serious level, as per the creators, so fans can expect to witness a well-constructed comedy series. However, the rating is not that high for the mockumentary on IMDB: it has only 6.4 stars out of 10.
